Benefits of Chia Seeds & How to Incorporate Them Into Everyday Meals

Though these tiny black seeds may not look like much, chia seeds pack a powerful punch of vitamins and nutrients. Chia seeds are one of the world’s best sources for important nutrients, with very few calories. By incorporating chia seeds into your diet, you can increase your intake of protein, fiber, calcium, magnesium, and Omega-3 fatty acids, among so many other nutrients!

Because of their high fiber and protein content, chia seeds can also help you lose weight. They are a whole grain and are naturally gluten-free. We could spend all day listing their benefits! Read more of them here.

Here are some other easy ways to add chia seeds to your diet:

  • Sprinkle them on your salad
  • Blend them into your smoothies
  • Sneak them into a stirfry (your kids won’t even notice they’re there!)
  • Coat meat or fish in breadcrumbs with added chia seeds
  • Add them into your favorite pancake recipe

One of our favorite ways to use chia seeds is in pudding, which is so easy to make! Its texture is similar to that of tapioca pudding, but it’s so much healthier.

Here’s how we made ours:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • Strawberries

  • Blend together the almond milk, vanilla extract and syrup. Whisk in the chia seeds and top with strawberries. You can also blend fruit directly into the pudding mixture. Let it set in the fridge for four hours or overnight for a quick grab-and-go breakfast. We took ours to go in one of our Bento jars. Yum!
