Family dinner is usually driven by our weekly schedule.

Every family likely has their little rituals. Sunday nights we like to have salmon, Thursdays we're partial to roast chicken, and Friday is often a special restaurant meal at the end of a busy week.

But there's a special place in our hearts for that family meal we like to call smorgasbord (or properly, Smörgåsbord). Perhaps it's a little watered-down version of from the traditional Swedish meal, but we love it, because to us it means we've pulled all the leftovers out of the fridge, warmed them, and laid them on the table. The whole family loves it, because everyone can get a little something they like—it's like four meals in one.

You can use anything you like and call it smorgasbord. Here's what our smorgasbord looked like::

  • Roast chicken breast
  • Pizza leftovers
  • Sprouted beans, avocado, sunflower seeds, mixed as a salad
  • Salad dressing
  • Dried peach and dark chocolate for dessert
